Platform Overview
Founded in 2012 and now headquartered in Singapore, SHEIN rebuilt fast fashion on a “small-batch, quick-response” supply chain — design to shelf in as little as two weeks, thousands of new items daily. It serves 150+ markets and ranks among the most-downloaded shopping apps in the West. In July 2026 SHEIN filed for a Hong Kong IPO: 2025 revenue of $41.9B with ~$2.06B net profit.
Since 2023 SHEIN has pivoted from owned fashion to a “global platform” strategy, opening its US marketplace to third-party sellers and expanding from apparel into beauty, home, appliances and toys. The Korean site launched in April 2024 and won young users fast through heavy local marketing; after Seoul ordered removal of products with excessive hazardous substances in May 2025, SHEIN visibly strengthened compliance while continuing normal operations. For Korean sellers, SHEIN also runs a global seller-recruitment portal helping Korean brands export worldwide.

Core Strengths
Agile supply chain
Small test batches and data-driven reorders put products on shelf in as little as two weeks, with industry-leading inventory turnover.
Global young user base
150+ markets with a firm Gen-Z mindshare in the West and emerging markets; its app ranks among the world’s most-downloaded.
Full-category platformization
The third-party marketplace now spans beauty, home, appliances and toys — repositioning SHEIN from fast fashion to super-platform.
Cross-border infrastructure
A mature global logistics network and owned traffic pool let third-party sellers scale quickly on existing rails.
Korean Market Presence
Since launching in April 2024, SHEIN Korea has built young-user awareness fast via subway ads and celebrity campaigns, joining TEMU and AliExpress as the Chinese cross-border force reshaping Korean e-commerce. After 2025’s product-compliance tests, the Korean site continues normal operations.
Notably, SHEIN also opened a global seller-recruitment portal for Korean sellers — Korean brands can export worldwide through SHEIN. For Chinese sellers, the Korean site remains fashion-and-home centric with limited third-party entry; but the full-category expansion is a clear direction worth tracking.
Opportunities for Food & Agri Sellers
Food not yet open — direction is clear
SHEIN Korea today centers on fashion, home and beauty with no food category yet; but the platform’s all-category strategy is explicit, and appliances and home lines are already live.
The value of preparing early
When a food line opens, suppliers with MFDS registration, Korean labels and retail-ready packaging will qualify first; our event keeps tracking SHEIN’s category policy.
Start via global markets
SHEIN’s full-category marketplaces in the US and Europe are mature — kitchen goods and food-adjacent non-food items can enter first to build platform experience.
Entry Guide for Chinese Sellers
- 1
Watch official recruitment
Third-party entry to SHEIN Korea is not fully open; global marketplace policies follow SHEIN’s official announcements.
- 2
Prepare qualifications early
Fashion and home categories have established onboarding; for food, prepare production credentials, ingredient testing and target-market compliance documents in advance.
- 3
Match the platform’s assortment logic
SHEIN’s users skew young and female; high value-for-money and rapid newness are the core logic — start with high-frequency, visually strong items.
